Pasig Vanguards, SOAR help Egay-hit families in Abra

UP Vanguard Pasig Chapter answered the call for donation of SOAR Deployable Response Group to bring much needed food to families affected by Typhoon Egay in Barangays San Antonio, Sagap and Bañacao (Sitio Salluden), Bangued, Abra.

SOAR, headed by Pasig Vanguard Jhun del Ponso ‘92, brought rice, canned goods, noodle packs and water bottles to the battered sitios in a two-day operation on 30-31 August 2023.

“A call was made and our Pasig brods immediately responded,” shared Pasig Chapter Commander Marvin Juan ‘88.

Pasig Vanguards raised funds during its chapter meeting on 5 August 2023 at JoeMag’s, and turned it over to Vgd. Jhun ‘92. A total of about 300 households benefited from the relief efforts.

“The community is grateful for our support,” said Vgd. Jhun ‘92. “This is the embodiment of Duty excellently performed and Country above self. And it brings us honor to be of service to others”

The Pasig Vanguards are members of the UP Vanguard Incorporated Pasig Chapter and come from the University of the Philippines campuses in Baguio, Diliman, Los Banos, Manila and Visayas.

Special Operations Assistance & Rescue PH (SOAR) was founded by Vgd. Jhun ‘92. It provides professional private patient transport for the clients and communities they serve and is still committed to perform search and rescue and humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
