July 2023 Birthday Fellowship UP Vanguard Incorporated
UP Vanguard Capitol Chapter is proud to have co-sponsored the July 2023 Birthday Fellowship and induction of the UPVI Board of Governors last 29 July 2023 at JoeMags, UP DMST.
The event which was attended by about 80 Vanguards and guests was graced by UP President Angelo Jimenez who facilitated the swearing in of the new BOG. In his inspirational talk, he congratulated the UP Vanguard Inc. and its initiatives and signified support especially for activities concerning DRRM. He also shared about his experiences in ROTC and military and his interactions with UP Vanguards. President Jimenez said that he is inspired by the Vanguard Shibboleth of Honor, Duty, and Country which translates every Vanguard activity into public service. He added that it may be time for UP to also adopt “Service” to its motto, in addition to “Honor” and “Excellence.”
As a prelude to his speech for the university graduation the following day, he then proceeded to mention his vision for UP type of education to be more accessible in state universities across the country and to democratize the entry to UP and favor the underprivileged.
Birthday celebrants in attendance were Vanguards Ben De Leon ’57, PJ Bondoc ’85 , Astro del Castillo ’90, Kenneth Tirado ’99 , Roseanne Realubin ’14 and JP Porticos ’22.
Two Associate Members from UP Manila were also sworn in : Dr. Valeriano Timbang Jr. And Gian Carlo Gallo.
During his remarks, National Commander Chito Oreta commended the Capitol Chapter for sponsoring the Fellowship and challenged the other chapters to also consider sponsoring the upcoming fellowships.
