Gun Clinic

The event showcased our commitment to equipping Cadet Officers, Sponsors, Cadet Alumni, and civilian volunteers with essential firearms safety knowledge and skills. Notably, half of the participants were Cadet Officers, Sponsors, and Cadet Alumni volunteers, reflecting the strong support from within our ranks. All participants gained hands-on experience while embracing the values of discipline, responsibility, and vigilance—traits vital for building a resilient citizenry.

Amid rising regional tensions, the clinic underscored the importance of citizen soldiers in national defense, bridging the gap between awareness and action. Participants left empowered, recognizing their role in safeguarding communities and contributing to national security.

One participant, J. Pajarillo, son of a PMA alumnus and government official, shared:
"My father has served his country with dedication for as long as I have known, whether in active service or in the government after his retirement. Though I have not followed his path, I have always admired him for his unwavering service. Today, during the clinic, I felt like I had taken a step, perhaps not in my father's footsteps, but on a parallel path. Napaisip ako na discipline and service are not only for the military, and that civilians can — must — also live by these tenets. I hope activities such as this can lead to awakening a sense of capability and pride in service in civilians that will reflect that of our soldiers, as well as provide a direction or goal to move to."

Such stories highlight the clinic’s impact in fostering connections to our advocacy. Many participants expressed interest in becoming reservists and even UPVI members, eager to contribute but unsure where to start. This presents an opportunity for the UP Vanguard to guide and engage these individuals, transforming the Gun Clinic into a gateway for recruitment and advocacy.
Looking ahead to the November 30 culmination, we aim to amplify these efforts and deepen participants' connection to the Vanguard mission. We invite all brods to join us in expanding the reach of this advocacy and inspiring more civilians to uphold our ideals of service and preparedness.

This inaugural Gun Clinic has demonstrated its potential as a cornerstone initiative, extending our influence beyond the ROTC audience. With its success, we envision making it an annual program, fostering empowerment, preparedness, and nation-building.
